  10.  AB    One of the main functions of the National Centre for AIDS Prevention of
  11.        Republic Belarus is to inform population about HIV/AIDS problem and
  12.        preventive measures propaganda. This work is being conducted in a close
  13.        contact wich authoribies ot big cities, republican and local means of
  14.        mass information, collectives of different services, enterprises
  15.        producing articles of general consumption and commercial structures. If
  16.        in 1991 only 51 of nonmedical structures were enlisted to this work, in
  17.        1992 their number was 176, and in 1993-261. Among them are ministries,
  18.        offices, organizations and commercial structures of nonmedical type. In
  19.        spite of acute economic crisis, these collectives have found
  20.        possibilities to allot great sums of money for propaganda of HIV/AIDS
  21.        prevention (that speaks by itself about understanding of the problem).
  22.        In 1991 their part consisted 87.6% from total sum spent on these aims,
  23.        in 1992-89.0%, and in 1993-85.0% (excluding sums of money alloted by
  24.        local authorities of Gomel, Mozir, Lida and Rechitsa for designing these
  25.        towns on AIDS theme). So we can say that in spite of significant
  26.        financing of health promotion work on HIV/AIDS theme by the Ministry of
  27.        Health this method of approach helps to exceed limited possibilities of
  28.        MoH by 6-8 times. Besides enlisting of different nonmedical services and
  29.        structures to this work has significally enlarged availability and
  30.        simplicity of this information. This is indirectly confirmed by a great
  31.        growth of demands towards one of the main means of HIV
  32.        prevention--condoms. This also makes it possible to satisfy the
  33.        requirements at most (in spite of obvious collapse of state
  34.        establishments) with the help of enlisted commercial structures.
